It's fic rec sunday! In honor of my undying love for Aunt May, I've put together a list of my favorite MCU May Parker stories. Many of these are Irondad, bc when May Parker and Tony Stark co-parent Peter Parker? Well, that's what life is all about. In no particular order, and this list is far from complete!
You know in hoco when May was like "I used to sneak out too, you know." This is a glimpse of that type of May.
Really fun series with besties May and Tony
May introspective
Younger Peter with May
May and Ben's love story ❤️
Mostly irondad, but the parts with May are fantastic
Not as much May, but she makes it count when she's in it.
Already rec'd this one, but reccing again bc its goooood
Uncle Obie May have Lied and Other Lessons to be learned. Irondad Bio-dad au. SUCH a good May. SUCH a good younger Peter.
Takes place at the hospital, nice glimpse into the Parker's lives pre canon.

Tbh, I think the way that I do it is the best way. So I always assume ppl are perusing my bookmarks page in order to find new fics to read (which is what everyone should do bc my bookmarks are full of absolute bangers), so I talk my faves UP in my bookmarks. I'm selling these stories like a traveling salesman at a carnival. Let me list all the reasons why you SHOULD read this masterpiece. Let me reassure skeptics of misconceptions based on first impressions. Let me elaborate on things only mentioned in the tags. Let me GUSH, dammit. Anyways, long story short, you should all be using your bookmarks page as your own personal infomercials for your faves.
hey do people know that like. notes that you leave in bookmarks on ao3 are visible? because i was looking at the bookmarks on one of my fics and someone left a kind of crazy comment, and then when i looked at the rest of that person’s bookmarks they were also kinda… not awesome. and there were some that i know would have hurt me if i saw them on one of my fics.
like idk i just think if you’re gonna leave comments that critique a fic, or say that you’d like it more if it was by another fic writer, or call a fic ‘mid-range, 6.8/10’, there’s a private bookmark button that you can hit. and then you won’t be putting down fic writers who are writing for free, taking time out of their day to share their work with you, purely out of love for the characters and the media. it just feels like the least you could do is show some kindness and not leave negative remarks where anyone can see them.
anyways TL;DR your bookmarks are visible. fic writers can see them. either be nice or make them private.

This is a very niche reason that I'm rec'ing this fic, but let me tell you, if you're an MCU irondad fan who also watched the Amazing Spider-Man movie, and during that scene where Peter catches the fly in his fingers you, like me shouted "Eat it!" at the screen, then have I got the fic for you, you little freak. 😁 (but also, it's a really well-written, compelling, and delightful read!)

I just watched The Black Phone, which was a really good lil horror movie. The thing is the main actor, Mason Thames, very much reminded me of a young Tom Holland, which put me in the mood for serial killer captures Peter fics. Luckily, I have 3 saved to my ao3 bookmarks page, so here are my recs today! All Irondad! Very dark fics ahead, bc serial killers obvi. Graphic depictions of torture, kidnapping, violence, etc. But, bc this is me, and this is what I like to read, keep an eye out for the specific rape/noncon TW's in the tags of the 2nd and 3rd recs - which is admittedly not a topic touched on even a little bit in The Black Phone, but what can you do. Either I'm sorry-not-sorry, or you're welcome? Either way, I warned ya! Grab a snack and cozy on up to these little fucked up gems of fiction.
"There's a serial killer in Queens.
Everyone tells Peter to stay out of it, to leave it to the police, but they should know better by now that he doesn't know how to leave well enough alone. Perhaps he should have listened."
"He should have listened to Tony, Peter realizes, and it may be one of the biggest regrets of his life. He should have listened when Tony told him to stay out of it.
“If I get out of here,” he bargains with himself, “If I get out of here.”"
"A serial killer is picking off teenagers left and right, but despite Mr. Stark's warning, Peter goes looking for the killer. For six months, the kid disappears without a trace, presumably taken and killed. Until finally the killer makes a mistake. Tony is left with more questions than answers, and the Peter he once knew is not the same. Westcott's done terrible things, and damaged Peter in ways no one could have imagined. But little does Tony know, Westcott's history with Peter goes deeper than his visible injuries."
If you're looking for a longer multi-chapter, this one is still ongoing. I particularly enjoy the ensemble Avengers cast supporting Peter thru his recovery.

Y'all, it's fic rec....uh Monday .. Anyways! I'm here to tell you do NOT sleep on this fic series right here.
Reasons I love it? Well, let me name a few. It starts off with Peter a little older than in canon, a little wiser, a little more jaded, a little more spidery, a little more traumatized. You know how it is. Which works so well bc it puts Peter and Tony on a slightly more even ground to each other, with Peter often being the voice of reason for our beloved neurotic Tony. I know we're here for the Irondad, and it's true, it's heading fully that direction for sure, but it's starts off with more of a Tony and Peter buddy comedy vibe? That's just SO FUN. Better yet, the author is posting each story as fully completed oneshots that build on one another but still feel like complete lil vignettes on their own so no worries about getting sucked into a WIP that might become abandoned! Happy reading! Xo

“You wouldn’t say that if you knew everything I’ve done. You wouldn’t… You’d wish you’d never found me.”
“I’m never gonna wish that.”
Peter sniffs. “Yes you will. You don’t even know. You don’t know anything.”
“Tell me then. Whatever it is. It’s been eating you alive, kid. I can tell. Just tell me.”

Look, I came a little late to the Irondad game, but I saved up the Christmas themed fics by my faves to read during the holidays and these were the ones which brought me joy and Christmas cheer. Indulge me while I gush as lil. Highly recommend a read or a reread! :) 🎄
I'm not ashamed to say that I wholeheartedly love everything Bergen writes, and this one is such a treat. It's a lovely little foray into Peter's headspace post-blip, set to the backdrop of a Christmas with brand new family dynamics, teenaged struggles, and Spider-Man related stresses. The beginning is on the emotional side, as the poor kid adjusts his big ol' guilt complex to a world riddled with repopulation struggles. Don't worry tho, there is much well-earned fluff to be had once Tony gets to the bottom of the mystery of what's been going on with our favorite spider-young-adult!
This is an oldie-but-a-goodie. I'm always so blown away by how well grilledcheesing mastered Tony and Peter's dynamic so early on in the canon, and this is another fantastic story between the two. Get ready to tuck in and get comfy with twelve chapters of Christmas spirit. This fic starts off with plenty of fluff and some character exploration, which balances well with a more serious plot line near the end and an overall air of impending Thanos throughout. It's such a cozy read. With an all-star cast of Avengers, you won't want to miss.
This one is short and sweet, with plenty of fluff. The biggest obstacle being a string of tangled up lights and a pseudo father and son learning to express how fond they are of each other. Don't get me started on how much I love and appreciate iron_spider, we'll be here all night!

If you need cheering up (like I did yesterday), read this adorable series. It features! Pizza, chaotic Peter Parker, avengers team kinda sorta as family sorta, fluff, Pepper being obsessed with how adorable dad!Tony is, fun and friendly New Yorkers, some light stabbing, in-story fan art, a wizard's spell, May Parker being in on the joke, a tiny adorable spiderman, grumpy Happy, and much much more! Xo

It's been a few years since I last read this breathtaking series, but I often think of it as the best fanfiction I've ever read. It might be time for a reread.

Here's a quick little rec on a Monday morning. It's no secret that I'm a May Parker stan and an irondad fan, and if there's one thing I love most in this fandom, it's Tony Stark and May Parker co-parenting Peter Parker. Just did a re-read of this excellent piece, and I thought I'd share the joy!
"If someone had told May that Iron Man himself would one day occasionally show up uninvited to her quiet little apartment and intrude into her quiet little life, she would have laughed them out of the room. But then her life seems chock-full of unpleasant surprises these days.
Or, Tony Stark wants a bigger piece of the pie. May Parker learns to accept help. Peter just wants to keep the peace."
Why do I love this piece? There are SO many reasons. It's told fully in May's pov as she adjusts to finding out and learning to accept that her kid is Spider-Man and everything that comes with that. This May is feisty, imperfect, overwhelmed, and a fiercely protective mother to Peter, while learning to let him have his independence as Spider-Man. May and Peter's relationship is wonderful in this, and you get a sense of how much they love and support each other and are a team. The interactions between May and Tony are genuinely so much fun. Starting antagonistic, bonding over their shared love for their vigilante spider-kid, and eventually warming to a friendship and respect that is clearly good for both of them. Bonus points for the spider bite causing Peter to do some weird things sometimes, and a scene involving two tired parental figures wishing their kid's teenage rebellion was a little more typical. The writing style is a joy to read and easily pulls you in. Xo

Hello, I'm here to gush about my favorite fanfics again! Tonight, we've got an epic Irondad multichapter on our hands that I wish I could read all over again for the first time! Even better, the author has recently started posting more little snippets in this universe, the most recent of which is a good old-fashioned outside POV! Might I bring your attention to the Before You Go series written by mak5258. Just an incredible gem, dare I say an absolute staple in the Irondad genre. Tony and Peter's dynamic is on point throughout. Peter feels very much like the capable teenager-almost-young adult that he is, with autonomy and independence, while still needing the balance of his parental figures in his life. Tony's arc of learning to trust and rely on Peter while caring and integrating him into his life more and more is an absolute highlight. May is fantastic in this one, and she and Tony have a great working relationship. If you're a little leery of kidnapping fics, let me assure you that despite the summary and prologue, the actual kidnapping plotline is a pretty small part of the actual story, and doesnt go quite as whumpy as a lot of other kidnapping fics do in this fandom. This is a slight spoiler, but it's in the tag so I think it's safe to mention that it's technically a bio-dad story as well, however it's done in one of the more interesting and unique ways that I've read. While it's a slow burn to the familial reveal, the wait makes the emotional payoff all the more poignant. Quick lil warning, tho, there is an element of dubious consent, but it's a small part of the overall story, not depicted on screen, takes place and the past, and is imo handled quite delicately.
So go on, if you haven't read it, then treat yourself. If you have, this is a great time to do a reread! Either way, grab a warm beverage, snuggle up under your favorite blanket, and dive in. I personally find this universe quite cozy. 💛

This morning, I got permission from the author to podfic one of my top 5 dream irondad fanfics to narrate. I'm still walking on sunshine from that message and am desperately trying to clear my schedule in order to sit down and record it out. I'm so excited!!

This is one of the fics that I found! Y'all I am a big fan of happybeans SPECIFICALLY for how Gen z their Peter is, and also for how delightfully chaotic their writing style is. There is such humor subtly woven throughout their work, and Peter's POV's always feels very age appropriate to a teenager to me. I am in my thirties and admittedly a little out of touch with the youths, so take that how you will. This fic deals with some dark issues, including psychosis and references Peter's canonical CSA ( aka Skip Westcott,) but in a way that is respectful to the subject matter and those involved. Much more beyond that, it is a fun and angst filled Irondad bonding story, with plenty of protective Tony moments and capable Spider-kid moments. If you're looking for something both fun and emotional, I recommend giving this one a read! Xo
Hi! I'm looking for a fic where Tony and Peter get kidnapped (I think?) and they escape but Peter has been on anti-psychotics since the fight with Mysterio (and Tony didn't know) and he doesn't have them with him. Escaping takes a few days and Peter starts to worry so he tries to keep himself grounded. Thanks so very much!
Hi, we think this might be your fic,

Hello friends and neighbors of tumblr! I am returning to this post bc the illustrious Mak5258 is currently posting a multichapter outsider pov based on the kidnapping incident within the original Before You Go story, that I noticed not alot of people are aware of. Let me tell you, it is GOOD. It's also not getting enough love and attention, imo, and deserves lots of love and attention. If you, like me, ADORE Before You Go, head on over read this absolute treat of a fic. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you be moved to leave kudos and comments, guaranteed! Xo
